I quit Insanity.
Not because I wanted to, but because I had to.
I was doing Insanity everyday (except on break days) all the way until the second week of Month 2, which was my graduation weekend/father’s day weekend. During that weekend, my family was here, I had friends crashing in the living room, and had no time/space to do the Insanity workout.
I tried to make up for it by doing double workouts, but after doing one workout, I couldn’t do anymore for the same day.
I told myself that I’ll add those workouts after I finished Insanity, but the missed workouts kept piling up.
And then I had to move, which is pretty much a week long process.
So… there you go! I did it to the second week of month two, with only two weeks left, and for me, that’s already an accomplishment. Once I’m settled at my new place, I’ll probably do a new workout — depends on what my schedule will be like this summer.
Even though I didn’t finish Insanity, it was still quite a journey for me! Can’t wait to do it again! But seriously, if you wanna do it, make sure your next 60 days aren’t filled with moving/family weekend long festivities/etc.
DAY 35&36 [FITNESS]
35 - Fit Test
It was so hard! I barely beat my past scores by one… I was supposed to do a second workout but since I have a final tomorrow and a project due the same day, I figured I’ll do the second workout after Max Recovery day later this week.
36 - Max Interval Plyo
Omg… Now I understand the saying “Your workout is my warmup.” This is my first real workout in month 2, and it’s tough! Reminds me of my first week of Insanity… The workout is an hour long instead of 40 minutes long, the workouts are more intense (a LOT of push ups in this one), and the intervals are longer and tougher. The things I do to be skinny.
I’m done with recovery week!
I really enjoy this workout too, especially at the end when you stretch your shoulders after doing the burners! ^______^ I’m gonna miss it.
Tomorrow is my rest day and then I start Month 2 ….
Okay, time to program my eyes out! GOTTA LOVE CODE GEN.
Day 3 of Recovery Week!
For the last three days of Recovery Week, instead of doing Core Cardio and Balance, I’m going to do the Max Interval Sports Training so I’m super excited for that! :)
DAY 29&30 [FITNESS]
Recovery week! Two days down, four more to go until the start the of Month 2!
I did the Core Cardio and Balance, and even though it’s not as tough as the other workouts, it’s still a challenge! This workout is more focused on balance, stretching, and doing burners for your shoulders, obliques, etc.
On to other things:
- this week is 10th week. :(
- Project 2 is due on Friday….
- I only have one final next week, which is on a Monday.
- Signing my lease the following Friday! I can finally move in to my new apartment but I will probably do that after my graduation festivities.
- Tony and his friends are coming down Friday night to celebrate his birthday, along with my family :).
- Graduation is on Saturday, followed by my grad party.
- Father’s day on Sunday! Debating on taking my family to the zoo or Balboa park or Coronado beach… or maybe do all!?
- Work full time starting Monday until SS1.
Fulfilling month ahead, I can’t wait!
Day 27&28 [FITNESS]
27 - Pylometrics
28 (TODAY) - REST
I DID IT! I finished the first month of Insanity!
I took an after picture of myself and compared it to the before picture of Insanity Day 1 and WOW. HUGE improvement. Even though I weigh 2 lbs more now than I did before, I do not LOOK it. It’s crazy how you don’t notice the small changes to your body but with the pics side by side, the difference is HUGE. I looked like a mini-whale back then.
Unfortunately, I have severe body issues and do NOT want to post half naked pictures of myself on the internet, but if you REALLY wanna see my change, skype/gchat me and I’ll webcam the pics for you to see! :) Or just ask me in person and I’ll show it to you. ^_^
So proud of myself. And to think I almost quit….

After that - Insanity Month 2
I can’t WAIT to see my progress by the end of Insanity! This is just what I needed. :) The greatest motivation you can have is YOURSELF.
DAY 25&26 [FITNESS]
Day 25 — Cardio Recovery and Cardio Abs
Yesterday — Pure Cardio and Cardio Abs
Even though I’ve been doing these workouts for almost 4 weeks now, they are still tough! I feel like they get harder and harder everyday! Today is the last day of month one, then I get an off day, and then on to Recovery week and then month two! I can’t wait. I was seriously thinking of quitting Insanity today due to my lack of interest, my unhappiness with my progress, and my busy schedule for June, but one of my friends talked me back into it and made me realize that I’m almost at the halfway mark and should just finish the workout. July 6 is my last day of Insanity, and I look forward to that more than to my own graduation! Wish me luck… again. :x

DAY 24 [FITNESS]
Brunch - Mediterranean sandwich from Panera Bread with a side of chips and salad
Snack - crisscut fries and Oreo ice cream sandwich from Carl’s Jr. (ugh, I feel so guilty…)
Lunch - Mint Brownie ice cream (so guillttyyyyy)
Dinner - NOTHING BC IM FAT.
Insanity - Pylometrics Cardio Circuit (I’m starting to feel dizzy more often…. why :(… )
The downside of Insanity is that it’s been making me eat really terribly.
I keep on telling myself that it’s okay to eat fatty things because I’m doing Insanity, when in reality, it’s probably one of the reasons why my weight hasn’t been changing.
So, to discipline myself, I’m going to give up fried food for the remainder of my Insanity-ness. (It ends July 6th!!!!!)
Hopefully by then, I’ll see some REAL changes! Wish me luck, I keep on trying to give up fried food and keep on failing, so hopefully, I’ll have some self control and say NO.
DAY 20-23 [FITNESS]
I’m starting to finally lose the weight I’ve been gaining! When I started Insanity, I gained about 5 lbs in two weeks, and realized that it’s because I’ve been drinking a lot of protein shakes… that are probably weight-gaining protein shakes. I stopped drinking protein shakes this week and am back to my starting weight again, and am so happy! No more protein shakes for me, well, at least until I talk to a nutritionist who can recommend me protein shakes that aren’t weight gainers.

I feel like I’m getting worser compared to when I first began Insanity. I’m stopping a lot inbetween workouts more, I’m getting nauseous more often, and I find it more difficult to keep going and ‘dig deeper.’ :/ However, I do notice a huge difference when I do the workouts — I feel like I have better form and control, but I lost the stamina that I once have (but back then, my form/control wasn’t as good). Maybe that’s the tradeoff?

I haven’t done that since last Wednesday, so I realllly felt the pain today! Time to study for my quiz tomorrow and work on my huge assignment that’s due at the end of the quarter.
DAY 17&18 [FITNESS]
I’m starting to get reallllly frustrated with my body. It’s been a little over two weeks… and I gained a total of 5 lbs from when I started… Is there something wrong with me? I’m controlling what I eat (most of the time), I do Insanity everyday, and I drink a LOT of water. I mean a LOT. I don’t know if it’s “muscle” that I’m gaining, but isn’t it weird? Shouldn’t I be losing fat first? Ugh, frustration!
Day 17 - Pure Cardio & Cardio Abs
I really hate pure cardio when I’m doing it, and I really like cardio abs because you can really feel the pain and you sweat like crazy.
Day 18 - Cardio Recovery
I always think it’s simple to begin with, but I always end up sweaty and in pain. Gotta love Insanity!
P.S. I know the numbers on the scale shouldn’t matter… but I’ve never weigh as much as I do now. #scared #sad
DAY 13,14,15,16 [FITNESS]
13 - Insanity: Pure Cardio and Cardio Abs
I hate Pure Cardio. The workouts aren’t that hard, but doing it for 15 minutes straight is insane! This was also my first time doing two workouts a day. Cardio Abs was fun— it was my first time doing it and they really work your abs! It was only 18 mins long (compared to the 40 mins of everything else) but it felt like forever to my stomach.
14 - Insanity: day off! Luckily it was also SunGod so I didn’t have to squeeze in working out during the festival. But I did feel guilty consuming all of those… calories….. :(
15 - Insanity Fit Test: It felt like day 1 all over again! And I improved on every single one of my workouts! So proud of myself :).
16 - (TODAY) I don’t remember what I ate the past few days, but I do remember today!
Breakfast: ate half an order of vegetarian spring rolls
Lunch: vegan banh mi
Snack: peanut butter cookie, a piece of a watermelon after my Insanity workout, muscle milk
Insanity: Pylometrics Cardio — I felt like today, my workout was LAME. I don’t know why! I felt like I was getting tired faster and my energy was NOT THERE. I have to work harder tomorrow!!
DAY 11&12 [FITNESS]

- Croissant with spinach and cheese

I’m starting to do a lot better with Insanity — my jumps are higher, I’m not taking as many breaks as I used to, and I’m trying to keep up with Shaun T because he’s a BEAST. Still sad that I didn’t lose 5 lbs by SunGod, but oh well!
New (and much more realistic) goal: Be at 115lbs by graduation. That’s in exactly a month and two days… I can do it!
